Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially come under the management of PIA Equity Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed by the Arif Habib-led consortium, marking the formal handover of the airline following its privatization.
The consortium announced that the airline will receive a Rs. 125 billion equity injection, fully capitalizing the national carrier and providing funds for fleet upgrades, operational improvements, digital transformation, and better passenger services.
According to the new management, the investment is aimed at rebuilding PIA into a modern, competitive airline while preserving its legacy as Pakistan’s flag carrier.
Commenting on the transition, the chairman of PIA Equity Ltd acknowledged that public confidence cannot be won through a change in ownership alone, saying the new management is committed to earning passengers’ trust through consistent service, reliability, and long-term performance.
The takeover marks the beginning of a new phase for PIA, with the consortium pledging to modernize the airline and improve service standards in the years ahead.
