Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has started production from its recently discovered Bobi Deep-1 oil well in Sindh, in a move aimed at boosting domestic energy supplies and cutting reliance on imported fuel.
In a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company said the Bobi Deep-1 well, located in the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease area in Sanghar district, was currently producing around 2,000 barrels of oil per day.
OGDCL said production commenced only weeks after the discovery was announced on June 3, reflecting efforts to fast-track the project’s commercialisation.
To enable early production, the company completed installation of a four-inch, 1.5-kilometre flowline linking the well to the Bobi Plant.
The company, which operates the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease with a 100pc working interest, said the start of production marked another milestone in monetising Pakistan’s indigenous hydrocarbon resources.
It said the development would help strengthen domestic energy supplies and reduce dependence on imported oil.
