LPG is being sold at significantly higher prices across Lahore and other parts of Punjab despite the government’s officially notified rate of Rs. 308 per kilogram.
According to market sources, consumers are paying Rs. 480 to Rs. 500 per kilogram, with some retailers reportedly increasing prices by Rs. 10 to Rs. 20 per kilogram on a daily basis without any official revision.
The widening gap between the notified and market prices has increased the financial burden on households that depend on LPG for daily use.
Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government will take strict action against those involved in overcharging consumers. He said notices are being issued to LPG marketing companies, while the relevant authorities have been directed to ensure compliance with the official price.
The minister also ordered a crackdown on hoarding and profiteering, saying enforcement agencies will act against anyone found violating the government’s notified LPG rates.
