A decision has been taken regarding the salaries of government employees in Punjab as part of the upcoming budget framework.
Officials said that any revision in pay for provincial government staff will be implemented in line with the federal government’s announcement for the next fiscal year.
Budget estimates indicate that Rs650 billion will be allocated for salary payments, while Rs505.8 billion has been set aside for pensions. Provincial tax revenue is projected to reach Rs1,330 billion.
Sources added that Rs800 billion has been proposed for the Punjab Finance Commission, along with Rs25 billion for social protection initiatives and Rs150 billion for the Suthra Punjab programme.
For the upcoming fiscal year, operational expenditures are expected to stand at Rs580.2 billion, while Rs221.9 billion has been earmarked for other investment-related projects.
In addition, Rs54 billion is proposed for foreign-assisted projects and Rs570 billion for other development and capital spending. Overall expenditure for Punjab is estimated at Rs3.569 trillion.
The federal budget for the next fiscal year is likely to be presented on June 12 instead of June 10, according to sources.
