The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its steady upward trend against the US dollar, closing in the green for the 175th consecutive trading session on Tuesday.

The local currency settled at 278.37 against the greenback, registering a marginal gain of three paisas during the day.

Market watchers say the rupee’s prolonged stability may extend its winning streak to nearly six months, reflecting relatively steady forex conditions in recent weeks.

In other currencies, the rupee remained unchanged against the UAE dirham, while it edged lower against the Saudi riyal.

Against major global currencies, the rupee weakened by Rs1 against the British pound and by 47 paisas against the euro. However, it posted a small gain of 12 paisas against the Australian dollar, while slipping 11 paisas against the Canadian dollar.
