The federal government on Friday approved a sharp increase in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel for the next fortnight.

Under the decision, both petrol and diesel have been increased by Rs26.77 per litre each, with Prime Minister’s approval confirming the revision.

After the adjustment, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs393.35 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now cost Rs380.19 per litre.

Officials confirmed that the revised fuel prices will come into effect immediately from Saturday, April 25.

Just a week earlier, the government had reduced diesel prices by Rs32.12 per litre while keeping petrol unchanged at Rs366.58 per litre, bringing HSD down to Rs353.43 per litre.
