Authorities in Islamabad have issued a detailed traffic advisory announcing widespread road closures and diversions across the city due to security-related arrangements linked to upcoming diplomatic activity, including expected US-Iran talks.

The Red Zone and Extended Red Zone have been completely closed for all types of traffic. The Islamabad Expressway between Korang and Zero Point has also been shut, while Srinagar Highway may face intermittent closures depending on the situation. Entry of all heavy transport into the capital has been strictly prohibited from all routes.

Heavy vehicle operators have been instructed to avoid traveling toward Islamabad during the restriction period to prevent disruption and delays.

For local commuters, alternative routes have been issued. Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6 and F-7 traveling to Rawalpindi are advised to use Margalla Road via 9th Avenue. Traffic from Faisal Avenue toward Zero Point will be redirected to 9th Avenue.

If the Zero Point–Koral Chowk section is closed, commuters can use Srinagar Highway, 9th Avenue, Stadium Road, Murree Road, Chandni Chowk, and Rawal Road to reach Koral. In case of Park Road–Club Road closure, traffic will be diverted toward Tramri Chowk.

Travel between Bhara Kahu and Rawalpindi has been advised via Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road, while commuters between Saddar Rawalpindi and Islamabad may use Colonel Sher Khan Road toward Faqir Aapi Road or 9th Avenue.

For intercity movement, heavy traffic from Peshawar to Lahore via GT Road should divert through Taxila, Motorway, Chakri Interchange, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat. Similarly, traffic from Lahore to Peshawar should follow Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri Interchange, Motorway, and Taxila.

Authorities have urged citizens and transporters to strictly follow the issued routes and cooperate with traffic police. Updates will be shared through Islamabad Traffic Police’s WhatsApp channel, official social media pages, and ITP FM 92.4.
