The Pakistani rupee continued its upward streak against the US dollar on Tuesday, closing stronger for the 144th consecutive trading session.

At the close of the market, the rupee settled at 278.90 per dollar, marking a one-paisa appreciation against the greenback.

However, the local currency showed a mixed performance against other major global currencies, posting gains in some and losses in others during the day’s trading.

Against the British pound, the rupee strengthened by 12 paisas, while it slipped by seven paisas against the euro. It also showed weakness against the Australian dollar and Canadian dollar, reflecting broader volatility across major forex pairs.

In contrast, the rupee remained largely stable against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal.
