More than 1,300 newly graduated engineers have started their careers under the second batch of the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program, launched by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial practice.

Out of 1,700 selected candidates, more than 1,300 have already joined various public and private sector organizations after a fully digital and transparent balloting process held in late March. The remaining selected graduates are being onboarded in phases as they complete their reporting requirements, after which they will also be placed in relevant institutions.

Under this program, fresh engineers have been deployed across more than 60 organizations, including federal departments, provincial governments, and entities from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. These organizations are providing structured, hands-on training through real-time engineering projects and operational exposure in different sectors.

A special allocation of 300 seats was reserved for candidates from Balochistan, all of which have now been filled, ensuring representation of engineers from the province in the national program.

Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir praised the successful execution of the second batch, calling the merit-based digital selection system a key step toward transparency and fairness. He noted that the initiative is not limited to technical training alone but also focuses on developing communication and professional skills required in the modern engineering workforce.

He said the program is designed to prepare young engineers for industry demands by exposing them to real working environments, helping them build both technical competence and workplace readiness.

The GET Program runs for six months, including five months of field-based training and one month of structured skill development sessions. Participants receive a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 during the training period and are awarded a QR-verified completion certificate upon successful completion.
