Islamabad International Airport has further expanded domestic connectivity as AirSial launched its Airbus A320 service between Islamabad and Sukkur, introducing a direct air link between the two cities.

The new route is aimed at improving travel convenience for passengers who previously relied on longer road journeys or indirect flight connections. The service is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the federal capital and upper Sindh, making intercity movement faster and more efficient.

According to available schedule details, AirSial is operating the route using an Airbus A320, a narrow-body aircraft commonly used for domestic and short-haul operations due to its capacity and fuel efficiency. The service is initially planned as a limited-frequency operation, with early indications suggesting a weekly schedule as the airline tests passenger demand.

Aviation industry sources say domestic carriers in Pakistan often begin new routes on a limited basis to assess passenger load factors before scaling up frequency. If demand remains strong, additional weekly flights or expanded schedules may be introduced in the future.

The Islamabad–Sukkur air link is part of a broader trend of improving domestic aviation connectivity, particularly between major urban centres and secondary cities. Such routes are seen as important for business travel, government movement, and family connectivity, especially in regions where road travel can take several hours.

Officials say the introduction of direct flights will not only save time for passengers but may also encourage greater economic and social interaction between Punjab, Sindh, and the federal capital region.

With the launch of this service, Islamabad International Airport continues to strengthen its role as a key hub for domestic aviation, supporting increased connectivity across Pakistan’s growing air travel network.
