The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is set to welcome a new Director General as Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik assumes the role on September 30. The announcement was made by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement released on Monday.
Lt. Gen. Malik, who is currently serving as the Adjutant General at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, will succeed Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum. Gen. Anjum has been in the position since 2021, appointed under the previous administration. His distinguished military career includes leading key operations in Karachi and Kurram Agency, as well as serving as the commandant of the Command and Staff College in Quetta. His tenure as DG ISI followed a significant role in managing Corps V in Karachi.
Lt. Gen. Malik brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He has commanded an infantry division in Balochistan and an infantry brigade in Waziristan. His military training accolades include receiving an honorary sword, highlighting his exemplary performance.
In addition to his operational roles, Gen. Malik has held significant academic positions. He has served as Chief Instructor at the National Defence University and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.
His educational background is further strengthened by his graduation from Fort Leavenworth in the United States and the Royal College of Defence Studies in London, enhancing his credentials as he steps into this critical role.
