The Privatization Commission has received 12 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the privatization of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), advancing the government’s plan to transfer power distribution companies to private ownership.

According to the commission, the interested parties include investors from Türkiye, China, and several of Pakistan’s leading business groups, indicating strong domestic and international interest in the transaction.

With the EOI stage completed, the Privatization Commission will begin the due diligence process, allowing prospective investors to review financial, legal, and operational information before the prequalification and bidding stages.

The commission said it has remained engaged with potential investors over the past six months and will continue consultations on the proposed post-privatization framework.

The government expects FESCO’s privatization to improve operational efficiency, attract private investment, modernize the power distribution network, strengthen competition, and enhance customer service. It also hopes the reforms will help reduce electricity distribution losses and contribute to lower power tariffs over the long term.
