Iranian lawmaker Mohsen Zanganeh has criticised Pakistan’s mediation efforts, claiming that American officials even write Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s tweets.

Speaking about the involvement of neighbouring countries in mediation, Zanganeh said their efforts had not lived up to expectations.

He referred to a tweet by the head of parliament in the country acting as a mediator, saying it had initially been forwarded by US envoy Steve Witkoff.

“Even their tweet was written by the Americans,” Zanganeh said, suggesting that US officials were involved in drafting the message.

His remarks appeared to question Pakistan’s independence in its diplomatic efforts to facilitate negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Pakistan has been involved in diplomatic efforts to bring Tehran and Washington to the negotiating table as tensions between the two countries continue.
