US Senator Bernie Sanders has once again targeted President Donald Trump’s relationships with Gulf monarchies, arguing that the enormous wealth of their ruling families explains the close ties.

In a post on X on Saturday, Sanders asked why Trump has such a strong relationship with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar before offering his own answer.

According to Sanders, all three countries are ruled by royal families with vast fortunes. He estimated the wealth of the UAE’s ruling family at $336 billion, Saudi Arabia’s royal family at $214 billion, and Qatar’s ruling family at $200 billion.

Calling them “billionaire dictators,” Sanders alleged that these leaders are among Trump’s “best friends.”

The post is the latest in Sanders’ criticism of Trump’s engagement with Gulf governments, an issue that has frequently drawn political debate in the United States.
