US President Donald Trump has dismissed reports suggesting Iran is charging ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, saying Tehran has assured Washington that no such fees exist.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Iran had informed the United States that there are “no tolls, no insurance costs, and no other charges of any kind” being imposed on vessels transiting the strategic waterway.
Trump blamed what he described as “Fake News” for circulating reports to the contrary and warned that if Iran’s assurances proved false, negotiations between the two countries would end immediately.

The president also denied claims that the United States had transferred or released money directly to Iran.
He said funds currently under US control would instead be used to purchase agricultural products, including corn, wheat, soybeans, and other food items from American farmers and ranchers for humanitarian purposes.
According to Trump, Iran is in urgent need of food supplies, and any such purchases would be sourced exclusively from the United States.
The statement comes amid heightened global attention on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes, where any disruption or additional transit costs could have significant implications for global energy markets and shipping.
