The Pakistani rupee continued its upward trend on Wednesday, closing in the green against the US dollar for the 181st consecutive trading session.
The currency settled at 278.27 per dollar, gaining three paisas during the day. Each successive gain has added to a record-setting streak of recovery against the greenback.
In the interbank market, the rupee showed mixed performance against other major currencies. It remained largely unchanged against the UAE dirham while posting a marginal gain of one paisa against the Saudi riyal.
Against other currencies, the rupee weakened slightly—losing one paisa versus the British pound and 23 paisas against the euro. It also depreciated by six paisas against the Australian dollar and 30 paisas against the Canadian dollar.
On the other hand, the rupee strengthened by 12.53 paisas against the Malaysian ringgit, while posting a minor gain of 0.20 paisa against the Chinese yuan.
