The Pakistani rupee continued its upward streak against the US dollar on Thursday, closing in the green for the 160th consecutive trading session.

The local currency ended the day at 278.62 after gaining three paisas against the US dollar, according to market data.

The rupee also showed mixed movement against other major currencies during the session. It remained unchanged against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal, while posting gains of 46 paisas against the British pound. The euro also remained largely stable.

Against the Australian dollar, the rupee slipped by 27 paisas, while it gained eight paisas against the Canadian dollar.

The rupee closed at 278.6217 against the US dollar, compared to 278.6522 in the previous session. It stood at 326.2381 against the euro, 376.4040 against the British pound, 201.9171 against the Australian dollar, 70.9142 against the Malaysian ringgit, 41.0477 against the Chinese yuan, 203.2029 against the Canadian dollar, 75.8619 against the UAE dirham, and 74.2595 against the Saudi riyal.

Market data indicates a broadly stable currency trend, with minor fluctuations across major global currencies.
