The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar to 204 consecutive trading days on Thursday, continuing a rally that has remained intact since December 25, 2025.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee closed at Rs. 277.9021 per US dollar, strengthening by 1 paisa from the previous session’s close of Rs. 277.9139.

Besides the US dollar, the rupee remained virtually unchanged against the UAE dirham and strengthened slightly against the Saudi riyal.
Among major global currencies, the local unit gained 24 paisas against the British pound but weakened 31 paisas against the euro, 14 paisas against the Australian dollar, 28 paisas against the Canadian dollar, and around 3 paisas against the Chinese yuan. It was largely unchanged against the Malaysian ringgit.
