The Pakistani rupee continued its steady upward streak against the US dollar on Tuesday, closing higher for the 180th consecutive session.

The rupee settled at 278.30 against the dollar, registering a marginal gain of one paisa. Each day of appreciation has added to a record-setting recovery trend against the greenback.

In other currency movements, the rupee remained largely unchanged against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal, showing stability in Gulf-linked currencies.

Against major global currencies, the rupee posted mixed gains and losses. It strengthened against the British pound by 40 paisas and the euro by 26 paisas. It also gained 27 paisas against the Australian dollar and 63 paisas against the Canadian dollar.

Meanwhile, minor movements were recorded against other currencies, including the Malaysian ringgit, Chinese yuan, and GCC currencies, reflecting overall stability in the foreign exchange market.
