The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has advised mobile users to renew their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) on time, warning that SIMs linked to expired, cancelled, or invalid identity documents could be suspended or blocked.

In a public awareness campaign, the regulator said only SIMs registered against valid and verifiable CNICs will remain active under existing regulations.

The PTA urged subscribers to renew their CNICs before they expire to avoid interruptions in mobile services. It also advised users to update their renewed CNIC details with their respective mobile network operators to ensure subscriber records remain accurate.

According to the authority, mobile connections associated with inactive, cancelled, or expired CNICs in the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) database may become liable for suspension if the records are not updated.

The campaign is intended to encourage subscribers to keep their identity information current and prevent avoidable disruptions to their mobile connectivity.
