The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is preparing to overhaul its Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System with an artificial intelligence-driven upgrade, according to project documents, though the exact technical contours of the plan remain undefined.
The proposed AI-Powered DIRBS Digital Intelligence System aims to inject greater automation and intelligence into the existing device registration framework. At its core, the project calls for the development of functional software capable of handling all routine DIRBS tasks through a more advanced digital infrastructure, with the new system designed as an expansion of the current platform rather than a standalone administrative arrangement.
The project documentation outlines reporting requirements and mandates the delivery of all project-related databases, software, and supporting records to the PTA. Any reports, databases, software, or other relevant information compiled or prepared during the assignment will become the authority’s property and must remain confidential under the specified contractual provisions.
While the initiative signals a clear push toward a more intelligence-driven approach to device registration, the project document stops short of specifying which AI models, algorithms, or individual features will be deployed.
