The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) staged a powerful comeback on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index soaring 7,241.13 points, or 4.23 percent, to close at 178,262.33, as investors rushed back into the market after last week’s sharp decline.
The rally followed a 2.7 percent drop in the KSE-100 Index last week, driven by Middle East tensions, volatile global oil prices, and uncertainty ahead of the State Bank of Pakistan’s monetary policy decision.
With geopolitical concerns easing and the SBP maintaining the policy rate at 11.5 percent, investor sentiment improved significantly, triggering broad-based buying across the market.
Heavyweight stocks led the advance, with UBL, Fauji Fertilizer (FFC), Engro Holdings (ENGROH), Meezan Bank (MEBL), and Lucky Cement (LUCK) contributing a combined 2,546 points to the benchmark index.
Trading activity also remained robust. Investors traded 1.03 billion shares worth approximately Rs. 41.01 billion, reflecting renewed confidence and strong participation across the market.
