The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) must collect Rs. 157 billion on October 31 to reach its monthly revenue target after falling short during the first 30 days of the month.
Provisional data shows that the tax authority generated Rs. 975 billion between October 1 and 30, compared with its full-month target of Rs. 1,132 billion.
The gap is also visible in the FBR’s cumulative revenue figures. Collections have reached around Rs. 4,058.5 billion against a target of Rs. 4,185 billion, leaving a difference of approximately Rs. 126.5 billion.
October’s final performance will depend on how much revenue the FBR records on the month’s closing day. The current figures have not been finalised and remain subject to reconciliation.
The last day of a month typically accounts for a sizeable share of the FBR’s tax receipts. This makes October 31 particularly important for the authority as it attempts to close the Rs. 157 billion gap.
The FBR will compile and reconcile the final figures over the coming days, after which its actual performance against the October target will become clear.
