The federal police have requested Rs. 1 billion from the Ministry of Interior to meet expenses linked to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) long marches and sit-ins, sources in the federal administration said.

The funds have been sought for the rental of more than 1,200 containers, accommodation for police officers and personnel, and meals for over 29,000 deployed personnel.

The requested amount will also cover the cost of sandbags, new tear gas guns, tear gas shells, and petrol, according to the sources.

The expenditure request comes as the federal police prepare security arrangements for the long marches and sit-ins in Islamabad.
