The Pakistani rupee posted another strong performance on Tuesday, gaining more than Re. 1 against the British Pound (GBP) while extending its winning streak against the US dollar to 197 consecutive trading sessions.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee appreciated by Rs1.04 against the Pound, with the exchange rate improving from Rs372.43 to Rs371.38.
Against the US dollar, the local currency gained one paisa, closing at Rs278.01 compared with Rs278.02 in the previous session. The rupee has been strengthening against the greenback continuously since December 25, 2025, and is now approaching the Rs277 level last seen in October 2024.
The rupee also strengthened against several other major currencies. It gained 90 paisas against the Euro, two paisas against the Saudi Riyal, and recorded a marginal gain against the UAE Dirham.
However, the local currency weakened slightly against a few currencies, slipping two paisas against the Australian Dollar and 52 paisas against the Canadian Dollar.
The latest gains come as the rupee continues to maintain one of its longest appreciation streaks against the US dollar in recent years, supported by improved foreign exchange inflows and stable interbank market conditions.
