The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its positive momentum against the US dollar on Wednesday, closing higher for the 164th straight trading session.

The local currency settled at 278.5602 after gaining 0.0114 against the US dollar during the latest session.

In the broader currency market, the rupee showed a mixed performance against major global currencies.

It posted gains against the euro and Canadian dollar, strengthening by 1.1275 rupees against the euro and 0.2584 rupees against the Canadian dollar. The rupee also gained 0.2939 against the British pound.

However, the currency weakened slightly against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal, while also losing 0.0589 against the Malaysian ringgit. It slipped by 0.2867 against the Australian dollar.

Against the Chinese yuan, the rupee posted a marginal gain of 0.0137.

In South Asian trading dynamics, the rupee remained largely stable against Gulf currencies, reflecting limited movement in regional exchange patterns.

Overall, the session reflected a mixed but relatively stable performance, with continued strength against the US dollar while showing fluctuations across other major currencies.
