The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved Rs. 6.6 billion to purchase 30 armored vehicles for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, which Pakistan will host in September 2027.

The amount approved is nearly 48% less than the Rs. 12.6 billion requested by the Cabinet Division for the vehicles.

The ECC, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, reviewed the proposal and approved funding for 30 vehicles to transport heads of state and other senior delegates during the summit.

The committee directed the Cabinet Division to carry out a detailed assessment before seeking any additional funds. It can submit a new proposal later if more vehicles are considered necessary.

The SCO summit will bring leaders and senior officials from member countries to Pakistan in 2027.
