The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has formally launched the feasibility study, master planning, and detailed design phase for the proposed Greenfield Airport in Sukkur, marking a major aviation infrastructure development for upper Sindh.

The kick-off meeting for the project was held on Wednesday, officially initiating work on the new airport in collaboration with an international and local consortium led by Germany-based M2P Consulting GmbH as the lead consultant.

The consultancy team also includes UK-based Leit-Werk Limited as a foreign expert, along with local partners Indus Associated Consultants (Lahore) and Cosmic Engineering Consultants (Islamabad).

The meeting was chaired by PAA Director General Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed and attended by Deputy Director General (Works and Development) Sumair Saeed, Director Planning and Development Ghulam Abbas Sheikh, and other senior officials.

Representatives from regional administration, government departments, aviation stakeholders, and the business community also participated in the session. During the briefing, consultants outlined the project’s work plan, including feasibility assessments, master planning, and design development, followed by stakeholder consultations.

Officials and business leaders expressed support for the proposed project, terming it important for improving regional connectivity and boosting economic activity.

According to the PAA, the Sukkur Greenfield Airport is expected to enhance trade, investment, tourism, and overall economic growth across upper Sindh and surrounding regions.
