Pioneer Cement Limited has approved the installation of a 28.265 megawatt solar power plant at its manufacturing facility in Khushab to reduce energy costs and improve operational efficiency.

In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday, the company said its Board of Directors cleared the project for its plant located in Chenki, Jauharabad, District Khushab.

The solar project is expected to become operational in the second quarter of fiscal year 2026–27.

The company said the investment aligns with its strategy focused on efficiency, sustainability, and long-term shareholder value, adding that the project is expected to generate meaningful savings in energy expenses, which form a major cost component for cement producers.

According to the disclosure, the project will be fully financed through internal cash flows.

The move reflects a broader industry trend, as cement manufacturers in Pakistan increasingly shift toward renewable energy solutions to reduce reliance on the national grid and manage rising electricity costs.
