Oil & Gas Development Company Limited on Wednesday announced a fresh oil and gas discovery at its exploratory well, Bobi Deep-1, in the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease located in Sanghar district of Sindh.

The company said in a notice issued on June 3, 2026, that it had made the discovery as operator of the lease, where it holds a 100 percent working interest.

According to OGDCL, the well was tested in the Massive Sand of the Lower Goru Formation through a cased-hole Drill Stem Test, which yielded 2,000 barrels of oil per day and 1.1 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

The test was conducted at a choke size of 32/64 inch, while the wellhead flowing pressure was measured at 1,050 pounds per square inch.

OGDCL said the Bobi Deep-1 well was re-entered on May 3, 2026, to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of massive sands in the Lower Goru Formation. The well was drilled to a total depth of 3,305 metres in the Sembar Formation using the company’s in-house technical and operational resources.

The company termed the discovery a major milestone in the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease, saying it marked the first hydrocarbon find from the Massive Sand play in the area.

It said the discovery had opened a new exploration play and also de-risked similar prospects in nearby areas, paving the way for further exploration and potential resource growth.

OGDCL said the new find was expected to contribute to narrowing Pakistan’s energy demand and supply gap by adding indigenous resources, while also strengthening the hydrocarbon reserves base of both the company and the country.

The company added that the development highlighted the continued potential of Pakistan’s sedimentary basins in supporting domestic energy security.
