The National Accountability Bureau has frozen 3,150 acres of land linked to Bahria Town Karachi 2 in Jamshoro, along with a 67.5-acre villa reportedly owned by Ali Riaz Malik, son of Malik Riaz, in a major action tied to an ongoing inquiry.
According to officials, the move was taken under a freezing order issued earlier this month by NAB Karachi Director General Shakeel Durrani under Section 12 of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999.
Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Qadri confirmed that all transactions related to Bahria Town Karachi 2 along the M-9 Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway had been frozen.
NAB said its inquiry found that 3,150 acres of government land located in Dehs Babar Band, Hathal Buth, Uth Palan, and Sarri in Taluka Thana Bula Khan had been transferred through 94 sale deeds to M/s Paradise Real Estate and was being used under the Bahria Town Karachi 2 project.
According to the freezing order, the land had originally been notified as forest land in May 1966.
Authorities have now barred all sale, purchase, transfer, lease, construction, development activity, and the creation of third-party interests on the frozen properties.
The provincial forest secretary has been appointed as receiver of the land and directed to take possession of the properties, manage any proceeds arising from them, and submit regular status reports.
In a separate action, authorities also froze Ali Villa in Bahria Hills, Bahria Town Karachi. Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi said the 67.5-acre property had allegedly been built illegally on government land in violation of the law.
