Pakistani actress Meera was sent back to the United States after Canadian immigration officials refused her entry following several hours of questioning at the Niagara border.

According to Geo News, Meera was travelling from New York to Canada to attend a show when immigration authorities stopped her for questioning before sending her back to the US.

The actress said she was unaware of the exact reason behind the decision and was trying to find out what had led to the incident. She also suspected that a complaint against her might have played a role in the authorities’ decision.

Meera, whose real name is Syeda Irtiza Rubab, has previously faced immigration problems in the United Kingdom. British authorities had earlier refused her entry and imposed a 10-year ban.

Her mother, Shafqat Zahra Bukhari, previously attributed the UK incident to a misunderstanding during immigration questioning, saying Meera had difficulty understanding the questions asked in English.

Meera later continued to face problems obtaining a British visa. One of her subsequent applications was reportedly rejected after her travel agent submitted incorrect information, with authorities citing false representations.

In July 2025, the actress appealed to British authorities for permission to visit her sister in London, who was undergoing cancer treatment. Meera said the prolonged visa difficulties had kept her away from her family for years.

The actress holds a US Green Card and has travelled to the country for personal and professional commitments. She had also visited Calgary to promote her film Psycho and participate in a stage performance.

The latest incident has renewed attention on Meera’s immigration difficulties, although Canadian authorities have not publicly confirmed the reason for refusing her entry.
