Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima has urged telecom operators to give Karachi more attention as Pakistan continues to expand its 5G network.

Addressing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology, she recalled that telecom companies had committed to launching 5G services in five cities during the first year of deployment. She stressed that Karachi, the country’s largest city, should receive a larger share of the rollout.

Committee Chairman Syed Amin Ul Haque echoed the concern, calling on telecom operators to increase the number of 5G tower sites across Karachi to improve network availability.

During the meeting, the PTA chairman said operators are continuing to expand domestic 5G infrastructure while also exporting 5G equipment, reflecting growth in the country’s telecom sector.
