Pakistan has begun discussions with Netflix and other leading global streaming platforms to increase the availability of Pakistani films and television dramas for international audiences.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal said the government is working to build long-term partnerships with major streaming services to create more opportunities for Pakistani creators and strengthen the country’s entertainment industry.

He said the initiative aims to expand the global footprint of Pakistani productions by securing better access to international streaming platforms.

According to the minister, Pakistani dramas and films have already earned recognition in many countries, making the creative sector an important component of Pakistan’s export strategy under the Uraan Pakistan initiative.

Iqbal said platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video play a crucial role in connecting local content with global audiences. However, he noted that regional political factors have limited the international visibility of Pakistani productions.

He added that the government is engaging with Netflix and other streaming companies to review the existing regional framework and improve market access for Pakistani content.

“Our objective is to ensure Pakistani creators receive fair representation and establish sustainable partnerships with leading global streaming platforms,” Iqbal said.
