The federal government has announced a marginal reduction in petrol and diesel prices, offering only limited relief to consumers after a sharp increase in fuel rates during July.

According to the latest fuel price notification issued through the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs. 0.12 per litre to Rs. 336.03 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has declined by Rs. 0.66 per litre to Rs. 392.38 per litre.

The reduction comes a day after petrol and diesel prices were increased by Rs. 1.09 per litre and Rs. 2.42 per litre, respectively.

Despite the latest adjustment, fuel prices remain significantly higher compared with mid-July levels when daily revisions began. Since July 11, petrol has become costlier by Rs. 25.32 per litre, while diesel has surged by Rs. 69.05 per litre.

The frequent price adjustments have added pressure on consumers and businesses, with transport and logistics costs continuing to face upward pressure.
