Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that Pakistan will need to increase its defense expenditure in view of the prevailing regional security situation.

He stated that the country is operating in a challenging environment and continues to maintain its stability and sovereignty with dignity, which requires sustained and adequate investment in defense capabilities.

According to him, defense allocations cannot remain static under changing geopolitical conditions and must be adjusted according to national security needs.

Referring to the 18th Constitutional Amendment, he termed it a strong reform that has been widely appreciated for devolving powers to provinces. However, he emphasized that greater authority also brings greater responsibility.

He added that social sector responsibilities largely fall under provincial domains, and provinces should play a more active role in meeting these obligations.
