Pakistan Customs Enforcement has confiscated smuggled goods and non-duty-paid vehicles worth Rs. 1.163 billion during intelligence-led operations carried out over the past two weeks.
According to the department, officials seized 6,330 kilograms of cellulose acetate tow that had allegedly been imported using false customs declarations.
In a separate operation, a Bedford truck was intercepted carrying 4,052 kilograms of men’s and women’s fabric. Customs also recovered 7,380 sleeves of cigarettes and 1,100 kilograms of gutka during the enforcement campaign.
Another operation in Thakot, Hazara, resulted in the seizure of a large consignment of imported food and beverage products from an Isuzu truck after authorities determined the goods had not been cleared through customs.
The enforcement drive also led to the seizure of three luxury vehicles on which customs duties had allegedly not been paid. The combined value of the vehicles is estimated at Rs. 25.5 million.
Pakistan Customs said the latest operations demonstrate its continued zero-tolerance approach to smuggling and are aimed at safeguarding government revenue, protecting legitimate businesses, and discouraging illegal trade.
The department added that intelligence-based operations, enhanced surveillance, and stricter enforcement measures will continue to target smuggling activities across the country.
