China’s latest AI model, Kimi K3, is drawing attention after it successfully created a functional macOS-style web application from a single user prompt.

Technology analyst Max Weinbach shared on X that he asked Kimi K3 to recreate Apple’s upcoming macOS 27 “Golden Gate” as a browser-based application. According to Weinbach, the AI completed the task in about three hours and 20 minutes, consuming roughly 60% of his monthly Kimi usage quota.

The finished project reportedly includes a macOS-inspired interface, Liquid Glass-style visual effects, and several working native-style applications running entirely inside a web browser. Weinbach also published the final output online, allowing others to test the generated application.

The demonstration has sparked discussion across social media about how rapidly AI coding capabilities are improving. Rather than generating isolated code snippets, modern AI systems are increasingly able to plan, write, debug, and assemble complete software projects from a single natural-language instruction.

A LinkedIn post highlighting the achievement described it as another example of Chinese AI models rapidly advancing in software generation, with users able to create complex applications using simple prompts.

However, the demonstration does not mean Kimi K3 recreated Apple’s operating system itself. Instead, it generated a web application that imitates the appearance and functionality of macOS, rather than the actual operating system.

Kimi K3 is developed by Chinese AI company Moonshot AI. The model is available to users free of charge with usage limits, making advanced AI-powered software generation accessible without a paid subscription.
