Pakistan has secured export orders for 60,000 metric tons of rice from leading Chinese buyers following a trade delegation’s visit to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, marking a significant boost for the country’s rice exports.

The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) said the agreements reflect rising demand for Pakistani rice in China, where importers continue to value its quality, aroma, competitive pricing, and dependable supply.

The delegation, headed by REAP Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Jawed Jillani, held a series of business-to-business meetings with major Chinese importers, distributors, and traders. The discussions promoted Pakistan’s premium basmati and non-basmati rice varieties while exploring opportunities for long-term supply agreements and stronger bilateral trade.

Jillani described the outcome as a major success for Pakistan’s rice industry, saying the 60,000-ton order underscores the effectiveness of REAP’s international marketing efforts and reinforces Pakistan’s position in the Chinese market.

He added that China remains one of Pakistan’s most strategic export destinations for rice, expressing confidence that continued engagement with Chinese buyers will help increase exports and further strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.

Former REAP Chairman Rafique Suleman said Pakistani rice has earned a solid reputation among Chinese consumers for its consistent quality, distinctive aroma, and value for money. He noted that sustained trade promotion initiatives and close engagement with international buyers would help Pakistan expand its footprint in global rice markets.
