The government has cut petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices again, but the latest reduction amounts to less than Rs. 1 per litre for both fuels.

According to the latest Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) update, petrol has become cheaper by Rs. 0.58 per litre, taking its price to Rs. 342.02.

The price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by just Rs. 0.17 per litre to Rs. 371.44.

The fresh reductions follow Thursday’s cut of Rs. 0.50 per litre in petrol and Rs. 0.19 per litre in diesel, when prices stood at Rs. 342.60 and Rs. 371.61 per litre, respectively.

Despite the latest reductions, fuel prices have risen sharply since the government introduced daily revisions.

Since the start of the daily pricing mechanism, petrol has increased by Rs. 30.72 per litre, while diesel has climbed by Rs. 41.93 per litre.

Petrol was priced at Rs. 310.71 per litre before daily fuel price revisions began on July 18. Diesel stood at Rs. 323.30 per litre at the time.

The latest rates put petrol at Rs. 342.02 per litre and diesel at Rs. 371.44 per litre.
