One in every six people in Pakistan has missed out on employment since 2018, while 3.6 million young people enter the job market every year, according to a World Bank report.

The report warns that economic stability alone will not solve Pakistan’s employment problem. The country needs faster economic reforms, stronger private sector investment, and business growth to create enough jobs.

Pakistan faces growing pressure to provide employment as millions of young people enter the workforce annually. At the same time, workers are dealing with falling incomes and rising living costs, adding to the economic challenges highlighted in the report.

The World Bank has called for a greater role for private businesses in job creation. More investment and an environment that allows businesses to expand will be important for generating employment opportunities.

The report also stresses the need for faster structural reforms to help Pakistan achieve annual economic growth of 6 percent.

Pakistan’s challenge is to turn economic stability into sustainable job creation and better incomes. With 3.6 million young people entering the job market every year, the country needs stronger economic growth and greater private sector activity to provide sufficient employment opportunities.
