Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1 (C-1) has completed 427 consecutive days of safe and uninterrupted operation during Cycle 18, setting a new record for the longest continuous operating cycle by a nuclear power plant in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), which operates six nuclear power plants, said the 325MW C-1 maintained uninterrupted operations during the cycle.

The plant also recorded a World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) Performance Indicator Index score of 100 in each of the first two quarters of 2026, according to PAEC.

PAEC said the result reflected the performance of engineers, scientists, and other personnel at the Chashma Nuclear Power Generating Station, along with continued oversight by PAEC management and adherence to nuclear safety standards.
