The federal government has retained existing closing times for shops, markets, shopping malls, restaurants and marriage halls as part of its latest measures to conserve fuel and reduce energy consumption.
According to a Cabinet Division notification issued on September 17, 2026, the closing times announced on June 19 will remain in force throughout the week.
Shops, markets, shopping malls and bazaars will close at 9 PM, while marriage halls and marquees will close at 10 PM. Restaurants, cafés and other food outlets will close at 11 PM, with takeaway and home delivery services exempt from the restriction.

The notification specifically allows standalone fruit and vegetable shops to operate until 11 PM, while general grocery and kiryana stores must close at 9 PM.
Standalone bakeries, tandoors and milk and dairy shops are also exempt from the closing-time restrictions.
The government has said provincial and regional authorities may consider introducing similar measures in their respective jurisdictions.
