Transporters have urged Islamabad Police to stop taking container vehicles for preparations for a political protest and immediately return those already seized.

Muhammad Owais Chaudhry said commercial vehicles should not be used for political activities, adding that transporters have nothing to do with protests or sit-ins.

He said the vehicles are used for trade and business, and their seizure is disrupting transport operations and causing losses to owners.

Chaudhry said some of the seized containers were being kept in remote areas, creating additional difficulties for transporters. He demanded that all vehicles currently under police control be handed back to their owners.

He also called for a transparent probe into the alleged seizure of vehicles and claims that bribes were sought for their release.

Chaudhry urged the government to prevent state institutions from taking commercial vehicles for political purposes in the future, saying such actions put unnecessary pressure on the transport sector.
