Lahore will begin issuing licenses for kite-related businesses next week as the Punjab government steps up preparations for Basant 2027.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, where Deputy Commissioner Lahore briefed the meeting on preparations for the festival.

The district administration has completed preparations for the Basant Portal, which is expected to become operational next week.

In the first phase, kite manufacturers will be able to submit their applications through the portal. They will only be allowed to manufacture kites after obtaining the required licenses.

The licensing system will also cover kite sellers and manufacturers of kite string. The government said licensing string manufacturers will help ensure adequate supply during Basant.

The final date for the launch of the Basant Portal and the start of licensed kite manufacturing will be announced by Maryam Aurangzeb.
