The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US Dollar (USD) for the 223rd consecutive trading day on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The rupee closed at 277.57 against the dollar, gaining 3.23 paisas during the day. The PKR has remained on an upward trajectory against the USD since December 25, 2025.
PKR Falls Against Pound, Euro and Canadian Dollar
The rupee remained stable against the UAE Dirham (AED) and Saudi Riyal (SAR).
However, the PKR weakened against several major currencies. It lost Rs. 2.16 against the British Pound (GBP), Rs. 2.56 against the Euro (EUR), Rs. 1.22 against the Australian Dollar (AUD), and Rs. 1.40 against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
The rupee also weakened by Rs. 0.36 against the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and Rs. 0.08 against the Chinese Yuan (CNY).
