Pakistan’s current account opened the new fiscal year with a $328 million deficit in July 2026, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The July deficit was 60% lower than the $814 million shortfall recorded in June 2026, indicating a month-on-month improvement.
However, the position worsened on a year-on-year basis. The deficit was also lesser than the $510 million recorded in July 2025.
The latest figures mean Pakistan began FY2026-27 with the current account remaining in deficit, despite the significant improvement from the previous month.
