Punjab Police have registered 9,272 cases against violations of the Kite Flying Act across the province during the first seven months of the year, with Lahore accounting for the largest share.

According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), police have arrested 8,202 suspects during intensified operations against kite-making, kite-selling and kite-flying. Kites, strings and other related material were also recovered during the crackdown.

Lahore region recorded the highest number of cases, with 4,367 violations registered during the period. Sheikhupura followed with 1,559 cases, while Rawalpindi recorded 961 and Gujranwala 869.

Police registered 405 cases in Faisalabad, 316 in Sargodha, 289 in Sahiwal and 281 in Gujarat. Multan recorded 156 cases, while 40 cases were registered in Bahawalpur and 29 in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The province-wide crackdown is aimed at curbing illegal kite flying and the use of dangerous strings, which can pose serious risks to motorcyclists, pedestrians and other members of the public.

The police have intensified enforcement against all stages of the activity, including the manufacture, sale and use of kites and prohibited kite-flying material.
