The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has launched a two-year Artificial Intelligence Innovation Hub project aimed at building AI skills among government employees, teachers, and students as part of the province’s digital transformation agenda.

Under the initiative, 1,500 government school teachers will receive training in digital and AI literacy, while 1,000 government officers will be equipped with AI leadership skills to support data-driven governance and improve decision-making across public sector departments.

The project will also establish a School of AI to provide practical training and hands-on learning opportunities to more than 2,000 students and public sector professionals, helping develop a workforce prepared for an AI-based economy.

KPITB plans to introduce an AI governance policy, ethical AI standards, and impact assessment frameworks to ensure responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across more than 50 government departments.

The AI Innovation Hub will connect government institutions, universities, startups, and private sector stakeholders to strengthen AI infrastructure, improve public services, and create a sustainable technology ecosystem in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The initiative will also support the implementation of Pakistan’s broader National AI Policy by expanding AI capabilities at the provincial level.
