Pakistan has revised the customs valuation of imported polyester filament yarn after determining that international prices have increased since the last assessment.

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation, Karachi, issued a new valuation ruling under Section 25A of the Customs Act, 1969, replacing Valuation Ruling No. 2069 of 2026. The revision followed requests from stakeholders seeking an update to reflect changing global market conditions.

According to the ruling, customs authorities conducted a fresh valuation exercise to bring import values in line with prevailing international prices. Importers and domestic manufacturers were invited to submit data and present their views before the new values were finalized.

During the consultation process, importers opposed any increase, arguing that polyester filament yarn prices remain highly volatile due to geopolitical tensions and fluctuating raw material costs. They urged authorities to retain the existing customs values.

Local manufacturers, however, maintained that international prices have been on a sustained upward trajectory and supported a revision to better reflect current market realities.

After reviewing submissions from both sides, the Directorate General of Customs Valuation approved revised customs values for polyester filament yarn imports from all countries. The new valuation will take immediate effect under the latest ruling.
